Phoebe + Conor | East London wedding

Looking for some chic but real London wedding inspo? This London wedding was the perfect reminder of why city weddings are so special. With iconic moments only somewhere like London can provide (hello red Routemaster buses!) Phoebe and Conor’s day had all the charm and energy and you’d expect when getting married in the capital.

As East London residents, Phoebe and Conor had planned their wedding day around the locality, and before their day they’d emphasised to me about what elements were important to them, such as maximising the time they spent with their guests. So before their day, I’d decided I wanted to really capture the essence of their day stretching across East London; let’s see if I succeeded!

I started the day where bride Phoebe was getting ready in the morning, which was her parents’ house about 10 minutes from the church. As soon as I arrived I knew it would be my kind of vibe; lots of things happening at once, scrambled eggs being cooked, dresses hung off doors and picture rails, and all the unique things that happen when prep is held at a family home.

A neighbour kindly drove me and the bridesmaids to the church where groom Conor was waiting, and after their ceremony at Christchurch, everyone piled into two quintessentially London-esque red Routemaster double decker buses, complete with cool bags of booze, to transport us all to their reception venue, Jones & Sons, in Dalston. Petition to have more wedding receptions at restaurants, please!

As promised, we whizzed around the nearby street for some couple pics, before the September daylight faded and the dinner and speeches ensued. With an absolute banger of a first dance song (Inner Smile by Texas) the party was underway, and once I felt I’d captured the story of their day, me and my rucksack hopped on the Tube back to Essex.

If every wedding was like this, I’d be very happy indeed. London weddings have a way of feeling effortlessly cool, deeply personal, and full of life—and this one was no exception. If you’re getting married in London and want your day documented naturally (with zero awkward posing), I’m always up for more.

What they said:

“Sally photographed our London wedding in September and I can’t recommend her highly enough! She was extremely professional, down to earth, relaxed and almost invisible whilst still taking the most amazing photos that perfectly captured the vibes of the day. I was slightly apprehensive that Sally hadn’t done many London weddings but I needn’t have been! Sally blends into the background yet seems to be everywhere at once capturing all the best candid moments.

I had emphasized that we didn’t want to spend lots of time away from our wedding taking photos, of course whilst still wanting those lovely couple shots to look back on - somehow Sally achieved all of this in about 20 minutes!

She really is the best of the best and we’re so pleased we chose her to capture our wedding day”
