Tom & Adam | Bingham Riverhouse wedding
As soon as Tom’s email to me landed in my inbox, saying he and his partner Adam were getting married in summer 2025 on the banks of the River Thames, I squealed with excitement! You see I already knew Tom, one of the groom’s featured in this epic wedding blog, because I photographed his sister’s London wedding back in 2019.
The family knew I took good photos and wasn’t a serial killer, so it was super exciting to get their June wedding booked in. I hadn’t shot at Bingham Riverhouse before, situated in Richmond-upon-Thames, but after a quick Google search I could see this was going to be a beaut of a wedding, particularly due to their plan for an outdoor ceremony quite literally feet from the Thames.
Fast forward to the week before their wedding and I was furiously refreshing weather forecasts from various apps, as all of them said the thing I really didn’t want: rain ☔️
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt as a wedding photographer it’s that we can’t worry about what the weather will do on a wedding day, but it doesn’t mean we don’t feel a sting of disappointment for our couples if the weather doesn’t play ball. As it happened, the forecasted rain turned into a light shower that passed by in the morning, and the rest of the day was borderline uncomfortable heat next to the river 😅
Grooms Tom and Adam got ready together in one of Bingham Riverhouse’s suites, before guests descended on them before their ceremony. They chose to walk up the aisle together, before we all enjoyed a beautifully personalised humanist ceremony by celebrant Anna Thirkettle, of Gentle Rebel Ceremonies. I am a real sucker for humanist ceremonies involving a celebrant, so I’d encourage you to look into this for your wedding, too!
After the important stuff was out of the way, guests enjoyed fun, games and plenty of risqué jokes into the evening, where we managed to catch a gorge sunset spilling over the iconic London backdrop.
Tom and Adam are such a special couple and I felt like everyone just laughed all day long in the best possible way, where the serious bits were taken seriously, and the less-serious bits an opportunity to have fun. Two grooms, black tie, and a supporting cast of wonderful guests against a sunny London backdrop: a dream wedding to photograph.
What they said:
“Sally is simply the best.
Having had the pleasure of meeting Sally as my sisters wedding photographer a few years before, we knew she was not only our vibe, but also would produce some incredible shots of our special day.
From the first moment we reached out to her she was her quintessential self, making us feel at ease, letting us know what to expect, and giving us easy to follow but clear instruction on the day. A must on a busy wedding day when you have lots of things on your mind. Sally took the worry and the people management off our hands, allowing us to enjoy and make the most of the day. We had so many comments from our guests and venue staff of how amazing Sally was.
Most important of all Sally is an incredible ally of the LGBTQ+ community which for us made her incredibly special and valuable. Thank you Sally for not only perfectly capturing our wedding day, but for all you support too.”
