Abi and Ben | A colourful Butley Priory wedding
Certainly one of the highlights of my summer, Abi and Ben’s sensationally colourful wedding at Butley Priory is here for your viewing pleasure! Despite a rainy forecast for their late July wedding (I mean, come on, what’s up with the rain every weekend this year?), it stayed dry just long enough for Abi and Ben to make the most of their unique wedding venue.
Abi and Ben had chosen Butley Priory, a former monastery, because it was bloody gorgeous, and they were right. It was my first venture to the rural Suffolk venue, and it certainly didn’t disappoint; a bright, airy ceremony room with oodles of natural light, and some wicked spaces upstairs for Abi’s bridal party to get ready. I loved this wedding for many reasons, not least because the injection of colour with the bridesmaid dresses, floristry, reception setup and table decorations looked incredible; this absolutely transforms photos, and you can see what I mean in the images below. The unabashed, vibrant colour just absolutely made everything pop *chef kiss*
I’m also a huge fan of Italy (though I’ve been only once and pine desperately to go back) and their reception was an ode to Italia. Abi and Ben have been about 700 times (it seems, as I jealously watch their Instagram Stories) so there was limoncello for wedding favours and wine sourced from Puglia on the tables. No doubt it was an incredible hardship for these two to undertake the wine tasting when abroad.
But it was how lovely and welcoming everyone was that really topped it for me, and although the rain arrived shortly before dinner, it didn’t dampen what was an incredible wedding day. More weddings like this please!
