Behind the scenes in 2022
It’s all very well bringing you beautiful photographs from weddings across Essex, Suffolk and beyond, but what does it actually look like to capture these images? More often than not getting that killer shot involves crouching, kneeling or laying down in grass that is either prickly or damp, never a happy medium. And for your viewing pleasure, you can see exactly what I mean!
Here’s a fun little round up of some behind the scenes images from 2022, taken of photographers, by photographers. Yes folks, half of the images that don’t make it into your final galleries are probably just photos me and my second shooter have taken of each other… or of the videographer, the makeup artist… pretty much anyone we’re friends with on a wedding day!
2022 hasn’t seen too many incidents for me; I have forgotten to put mascara on for two weddings this year, thankfully I realised both times before the action started, but one did involve a frantic call from me to the bride while I was on the A12 to Suffolk asking if her makeup artist could be on standby for my arrival to bridal prep.
It’s been another year of very generous couples bestowing some fab wedding food upon me and my second shooters… but as ever some caterers receive the booby prize for trying to feed me guest leftovers as a meal (that you paid for). I’ll continue to call this BS out as long as caterers and venues continue to think feeding scraps to suppliers is acceptable.
Many of these photos are just me and my camera getting a shot, but there’s also a few fab supplier friends thrown in for good measure too. Thanks to everyone who second shot for me this year, and hello to all the fun, friendly, collaborative videographers too! (But boo to the unfriendly annoying ones.)
It seems I’ll need to expand my wardrobe in 2023 because according to these photos I appear to only have 3 different outfits that I wear to weddings! Although we are in a cost of living crisis at the moment so if a few more of you could book me so I can afford some new clothes, that’d be great.
So that’s me for 2022, I’m ready to tackle 2023 head on, I just might keep an extra mascara wand in my car for emergencies! Scroll below to see a little flavour of the past 12 months behind the camera.
