Lorna & Zoe | The Secret Garden, Kent

I’m throwing it back to summer 2019 here, with a long-overdue blog post for Lorna and Zoe’s gorgeous wedding at The Secret Garden, in Ashford, Kent. I’d been recommended to Lorna and Zoe by one of our mutual friends, and after a little change around of dates and plans, I was delighted to be able to capture their intimate wedding in June last year.

Theirs was a wedding day that stuck with me for a little while, after the day itself, and after the photos had been downloaded. It was one of those ones that just gets you right in the heart. Not only do they have a lovely friends-to-something-more story, their world is firmly centred around their two terriers, Tyson and Charlie – and as you know, I am a huge sucker for dogs at weddings!

Lorna and Zoe had booked me and my videographer pal Dean from Hitched Wedding Films to capture half a day for them, and so we travelled to the cottage where they’d stayed overnight before the wedding. It was a beaut little AirBnB that was about 10 minutes’ drive from the wedding venue, and it perfectly suited the vibe of their wedding (not to mention it is dog-friendly too!). Folks – please let this be the leading example of how booking an AirBnB for your wedding prep just *transforms* your bride prep photos, and it was practically heaven catching a few candid images in the cottage. It makes the whole image collection sing!

Despite getting ready in the same cottage, the pair decided to not see each other on the day of the wedding, until they walked up the aisle together at the ceremony, so they kept themselves squirreled-away in separate bedrooms opposite the hall to one another in the cottage. Cue much hilarity as Dean and I hopped between rooms to make sure we weren’t missing anything. As you’ll see below, Charlie and Tyson didn’t want to be left out of the action as the girls got into their dresses! Scroll down to see and read more…
